BioGeokinesis; manipulation of the earth. Capable of making plants move on their own and reshaping the earth beneath her into crude shields and projectiles. Is also capable of hearing the "thoughts" of nature. Upon making her decision, Gabriela's powers will increase in strength, and she will also gain the ability to make plants grow at will and the ability to create tremors within the earth. |
Everyone always said that Gabriela's parents made a lovely couple. Her father, Simon de Silva, was a first-generation immigrant to Brazil, a shy, quiet researcher who made his home in Belem studying the Amazon. Her mother, Hermosa Inigo, an up-and-coming young model, was the epitome of beauty. Their love seemed like a match made in heaven; they were two star-crossed lovers. When she was born, they named her after the archangel Gabriel. Unfortunately, her mother was often very busy in her childhood, so it was up to her studious father to raise her as best he could. Simon exposed Gabriela to a multitude of "finer arts" as a child – such as dance and the piano. It wasn't much; he wound up teaching her how to play piano by himself, since the dance lessons were consuming enough of his budgets. Gabriela came to love her father more than anything. Gabriela was frequently plagued by headaches growing up. She claimed she could hear a voice in the back of her head, but she didn't know where it came from. This voice turned out to be the "thoughts" of the planet. After that, Gabriela discovered her strange talent to control the earth, but never told anyone but her father about it. Simon made Gabriela promise not to tell Hermosa. When Gabriela was eight, Hermosa took some leave off the modeling to finally spend some actual, quality time with her family. Something seemed amiss, though - while it was clear Gabriela's father was still deeply in love with his wife, there wasn't something quite... right with Gabriela's mother. Sometimes during meals or during church, Gabriela would see Hermosa staring at her father with a strange, undecphirable emotion in her eyes. Whenever Gabriela asked her why she sometimes looked at daddy like she did, her mother would merely smile and ask if Gabriela wanted to go shopping. One day, Gabriela finally found out the meaning behind those glances. She came home from dance lessons once evening and found her mother standing over her father's bloodied corpse. Horrified and devastated, Gabriela collapsed to the floor, at a loss for words. It was then Hermosa decided to tell Gabriela how things were: the world was ending, and Gabriela had a great destiny ahead of her, where she had to make a choice regarding the fate of the world. Hermosa went on to explain the source of her powers, which Hermosa had apparently knew of all along. Hermosa - and by her blood, Gabriela as well - was descended from a line of female geokinetics and Hermosa was merely fulfilling her duty as being a part of that clan. Finally, Hermosa approached her daughter, kissed her on the forehead, and said goodbye. Following these events, Hermosa disappeared. Gabriela was immediately transported to Rio, where she moved in with her father's remaining family. They tried to make her feel at home, but the old Gabriela was gone. Her father was dead, and her mother was missing... learning of her destiny and involvement in the end of the world didn't help things, either. For a while she became rather aloof, not wanting to talk to anyone unless she had to or make any new friends. The friends she managed to keep became very dear to her heart, though. During her teenage years, Gabriela's peers and guardians were pleased to see that she had finally broken out of the shell she isolated herself in as a little girl: she was becoming more talkative than ever before. However, this wasn't exactly the case. Gabriela didn't want to believe in the future Hermosa told her of, but she could do things normal people couldn't. Now older and maybe a little wiser, she deeply wanted to dismiss Hermosa's claims as ludicrosity, but the facts were right in front of her. But Gabriela didn't want to accept it. So she ignored it. She let the issue drop and fade away into the background so she could do what she wanted to without inhibitions. Discovering how useful and practical a lie could be, Gabriela spent the next few years doing whatever she wanted to while keeping her guardians convinced that she was a good girl by behaving well around them and doing well in school. With the Final Battle looming on the horizon, Gabriela is perfectly content to ignore the duties expected before her as long as she can. |
Above all else, Gabriela is a very confident girl. She is stubborn, headstrong, and opinionated, which often causes her to do and say things that she winds up regretting. However, because Gabriela frequently hides beneath a coy, jaded exterior, she often brushes these mistakes off as little to nothing at all. Gabriela acts like she doesn't have a care in the world after her own interests. Beneath this outer shell lies a vulnerable little girl. Gabriela acts tough, but it's all talk and some really good acting. In reality, she feels very lonely, and struggles to come into her own as a person. Other times, she feels like she isn't good enough, and much as she would like to find something to prove herself with, Gabriela can't find it. Although she is afraid of growing attached to people, she strongly respects or cares for a lot of people, and ultimately desires to protect them. Gabriela can get very moody and would sooner give someone the cold shoulder or say a sarcastic remark than to actually be friendly with him or her. She loses her temper very quickly, and is not afraid to speak her mind - which often has nothing but bad things to say about people. On the other hand, Gabriela is a tad conceited - she knows she's attractive, and isn't afraid to flaunt or express it. Over time, Gabriela has begun to break out of her shell and become more open with herself and her feelings then she used to be. She now acknowledges her conscience, and has a firm set of morals and ideals that she firmly believes in. |
To put it simply, she's beautiful. If there was any sort of person that could "stop traffic with a single look", then Gabriela would be a great candidate for said person. Her hair used to be long, but shortly after making her decision, Gabriela cut it short and styles it into a bob. She is also fair of skin and has blue eyes, which are her most prominent feature. Gabriela very much enjoys and relishes her femininity. It's extremely rare to see her wearing pants, since Gabriela prefers dresses and skirts to them. She is very much appealled by the ideas of being consistently well-groomed, making her quite fussy and meticulous over her appearance. It isn't uncommon at all to see her staring in front of a mirror for hours early in the morning. |
